Papaya has been known for its cancer fighting properties and has been used as an alternative cancer treatment option for many years, however so far there’s been no scientific evidence proving that Papaya could fight cancer. This is no longer true. International doctors and researchers conducted an extensive study on effects of Papaya on cancer and their findings, which were published on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology conclude that Papaya Leaf Tea and Papaya Leaf Extract have “dramatic cancer-fighting properties against a broad range of tumors”.

Fight Cancer with Papaya - Treats Every Type of Tumor

Nam Dang from the University of Florida teamed up with researchers from Japan to test the anti-cancer effects of dry Papaya leaf extract against cervix cancer, breast cancer, liver cancer, lung cancer and pancreatic cancer and found that the higher the dose of Papaya leaf tea was used, the more it impacted the tumor.

Cancer fighting properties of Papaya leaf tea were attributed to increased production of key signaling molecules called Th1-type cytokines, which are known regulators of the immune system. Papaya extract helps to stimulate these Th1-type cytokines which in turn promote the ability of patient’s immunity to destroy cancerous cells. With proper boost, the immune system is able to fight various types of cancers without the need of harmful procedures such as chemotherapy or radiation. And since Papaya has no toxic effects on normal cells, its consumption goes without side effects.

Ten different cancer type cells were exposed to Papaya leaf extract for 24 hours and each of the cultures experienced slower tumor growth after exposure. Researchers repeated the test with exposure to Papaya leaf extract of different strengths and recorded the results for each. In conclusion, higher doses of Papaya leaf extract showed more powerful impact on tumor growth. Since according to this study, Papaya is able to slow down the growth of any type of tumor, no matter which type of cancer you are suffering from, Papaya could help you fight it.

What is Anti-Angiogenesis? In laymen’s terms, Anti-Angiogenesis is a cancer therapy that consists of intake of drugs or natural foods that deprive cancerous tumors of blood supplies. In other words, Anti-Angiogenesis starve tumors to death by choking off blood supplies to them. Tumors rely heavily on uninterrupted blood supply and if there is a deprivation, cancerous cells do what they failed to do due to modifications to their genetic code – die. There are currently about a dozen conventional drugs inducing Anti-Angiogenesis available on the market. These drugs have shown the ability to turn off blood supply from the tumor. However as it is with many drugs (chemotherapy), their intake is often accompanied with unpleasant side effects and they are often expensive. That’s where natural foods come to play.

Ongoing research indicates that agents in a number of natural foods directly contribute to treatment of cancer through Anti-Angiogenesis. Following four foods have been known as powerful cancer killers thanks to their Anti-Angiogenesis effects for a while:

Blueberries

Garlic

Soy

Green Tea

The strong four listed above have been joined by new two as recently as February 2010. William Li, head of Angiogenesis Foundation presented their latest findings at a prestigious TED Conference on February 10, 2010. During his presentation, William Li said:

We are rating foods based on their cancer-fighting qualities. What we eat is really our chemotherapy three times a day. We discovered that Mother Nature laced a large number of foods and herbs with anti-angiogenesis features.

According to Angiogenesis Foundation’s research, men who ate cooked tomatoes a few times a week were 30% to 50% less likely to develop devastating and humiliating prostate cancer. But the biggest surprise was the discovery of potent cancer killing mechanisms found in two foods that are joining the big four:

Dark Chocolate

Red Wine

Both dark chocolate and red wine showed undisputed ability to starve tumors to death by choking off their blood supplies. Along with parsley and virtually all types of berries, the above mentioned six anti-angiogenesis foods proved to be “as effective or more potent in battling cancer” through anti-angiogenesis as approved drugs. Yet unlike conventional drugs, there are no side effects associated with consumption of natural foods and they are vastly more affordable bringing cancer treatment to people of all walks of life. Further into the research, Angiogenesis Foundation also discovered that natural anti-angiogenesis foods were even more effective when eaten together.

Dark Chocolate - Delicious, Enjoyable and Cancer Fighting, Photo: suavehouse113, Flickr

Aside from cutting tumors off from the blood supply, anti-angiogenesis foods could also assist with treatment of obesity. Like tumors, fat cells also rely heavily on blood flow to sustain themselves.

In our previous list of foods you should buy organic we focused on foods that show excessive residue of pesticides in edible parts. To keep things balanced, here is the list of foods you don’t have to buy organic, because they either do not require pesticide treatment – thanks to their natural pest resistance – or because these foods have protective layer (a peel) which prevents absorption of pesticides by the edible parts.

This being said – it is recommended to eat organic food whenever possible. Aside from being good for your health, organic foods is also good for the Earth. It is essential to point out that “organic” doesn’t necessarily mean “100% pesticides free”. Produce of every kind is subject to fungal and/or mold deterioration but most of all – unless you have grown the produce organically yourself – all you have to work with when buying organic from the grocery store is someone’s pledge that the products you are purchasing truly are organic. Unfortunately, seals of approval as well as all other forms of certification can be purchased because people are easily corrupted by money.

Despite of all potential downfalls, conventional foods are more or less guaranteed to have gone through pesticide treatment whereas with organic foods you stand much better chance of eating healthy. Still, thanks to natural abilities of some foods to resist pests or to protect parts that we eat from outside agents, the foods from the list below would be generally safe even in non organic versions. Without further ado, this is the list of low pesticides foods you do not have to buy organic:

Onions

Onions are a perfect example of a food you don’t have to buy organic. Because few pests choose onions as their hosts, only few and only mild acting agents are used during pesticide spraying.

Onion - Low Pesticides Food You Don't Have to Buy Organic, Photo: Jon Sullivan, Wikipedia

Avocados

Thick skin wrapped around soft, edible parts prevents chemical build-up making non organic avocados a reasonably safe option.

Avocado - Low Pesticides Food You Don't Have to Buy Organic, Photo: Darwin Bell, Flickr

Sweet Corn

Sweet Corn fields are heavily sprayed by the pesticides but little of the bad stuff makes it to the kernels. Various laboratory tests proved little chemical residue on the Sweet Corn kernels making it a reasonably safe food even in non organic form.

Sweet Corn - Low Pesticides Foods You Don't Have to Buy Organic, Photo: USDA, Wikipedia

Pineapple

Most chemical residue gets trapped in the skin of the Pineapples which gets peeled off before consumption. Remember to wash the fruit before you start peeling the skin off so you do not contaminate the juicy parts with the knife that was cutting through pesticide rich skin.

Pineapple - Low Pesticides Food You Don't Have to Buy Organic, Photo: Markus Leupold-Löwenthal, Wikipedia

Mango

Like Pineapples, Mangoes are protected by tough skin that gets peeled off to expose soft juicy part inside. Rinse your non organic Mangoes under running water to remove residue before cutting.

Mango - Low Pesticides Food You Don't Have to Buy Organic, Photo: Zeetz Jones, Flickr

Asparagus

Asparagus is not an attractive target for insects or vegetable diseases making it an easy veggie to grow. Because of that, there is no need to use many pesticides.

Asparagus - Low Pesticides Food You Don't Have to Buy Organic, Photo: itsjustanalias, Flickr

Sweet Peas

Numerous tests proved that pesticide residues are near undetectable in samples of non organic Sweet Peas.

Sweet Peas - Low Pesticides Food You Don't Have to Buy Organic, Photo: Gaetan Lee, Wikipedia

Cabbage

Another vegetable that requires fewer pesticides because it’s not subjected to so many pests. It will grow nicely even without any chemicals involved.

Cabbage - Low Pesticides Food You Don't Have to Buy Organic, Photo: Biso, Wikipedia

Eggplant

As is the case with Sweet Peas, Environmental Working Group claims that traces of pesticides are undetectable in Eggplants. Thick skin wrapped around it surely does great job keeping the chemicals away from edible parts.

<img src="http://www.alternativecancer.me/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/eggplant-500x375.jpg" alt="Eggplant - Low Pesticides Food You Don't Have to Buy Organic, Photo: J.E. Fee, Wikipedia" title="Eggplant - Low Pesticides Food You Don't Have to Buy Organic, Photo: J.E. Fee, Wikipedia

Papaya

Papaya skin is thick and does great job protecting the edible fruit inside from pesticides. As with Pineapple, it is recommended you wash Papaya under running water prior to cutting to avoid contamination by residues found on fruit’s skin.

Papaya - Low Pesticides Food You Don't Have to Buy Organic, Photo: love♡janine, Flickr

Watermelon

I assume you already know the answer to why pesticides don’t make it to the juicy parts of Watermelons. There is hardly any chemical that could make it past that rind.

Watermelon - Low Pesticides Food You Don't Have to Buy Organic, Photo: Steve Evans, Wikipedia

Broccoli

Broccoli doesn’t face many pest threats hence fewer pesticides are needed to grow it.

Broccoli - Low Pesticides Food You Don't Have to Buy Organic, Photo: Яick Harris, Flickr

Sweet Potato

Environmental Working Group retains that Sweet Potatoes are unlikely to get contaminated by pesticides and tests tend to prove the claim.

Sweet Potato - Low Pesticides Food You Don't Have to Buy Organic, Photo: RaeA, Flickr

Unlikely Candidate – Kiwi

Kiwi is said to get less contaminated thanks to its skin that prevents absorption of chemicals. Because of this it technically should be included on the list of low pesticide foods you don’t have to buy organic but that would require peeling the skin before eating. If you are not aware, most of the nutrients as well as high doses of Vitamin C – one of the most potent antioxidants – are found directly under the skin of this fruit. By peeling skin off you strip the fruit off its most valuable nutrients. I strictly eat Kiwi with skin (and always organic) and I’d recommend everyone doing the same. Do not peel your Kiwis, but make sure you buy organic if you intend to eat it with the skin.

Kiwifruit - Low Pesticides Food You Don't Have to Buy Organic, Photo: Darrren Hester, Flickr

While list above contains foods that are reasonably safe even if non organic version is bought, you should keep in mind that organic foods are not only healthier for your body, they are also more sustainable for the planet. Organic fruits and vegetables are grown from seeds that were not genetically modified and no sewage based fertilizers or chemical pesticides were used during the course of growing. Farming soils likes that.

Furthermore, even though the foods on the list tested low for pesticide residues, various studies suggest that organic foods are richer in essential nutrient than their non organic versions. The reason we have published this list even though we openly recommend buying organic whenever possible, is because in today’s tough economic times it is not always possible to stick with often higher-priced organic foods. This way if you only buy organic foods which are known to be full of pesticides in non organic versions and stick with non organic when buying foods found on this list, it will make the cost of staying healthy more bearable. Remember – mother nature will thank you each time you buy organic.

Prostate Cancer Alternative Treatment options are being discovered, tested, and refined every day. Scientific studies that are only spoken of inside their specialty’s symposiums are showing that very simple treatments can have radical effects on prostate cancer survival rates. Some of these simply won’t ever make it into the public sphere if patients don’t learn to ask about them. Check out these prostate cancer latest alternative therapies:

Modified Citrus Pectin

In 2003, the Journal of the National Cancer Institute quietly published a paper by doctors Nangia-Makker P, Hogan V, Honjo Y, Baccarini S, Tait L, Bresalier R, and Raz A. It happened almost eight years ago, and no one has heard much about it since. In that paper, the doctors verified scientifically that significant doses of modified citrus pectin (15 grams per day – costing about $100 per month) halved the growth rate of prostate tumors in several men tested. That means that cancer can be detected later without adversely affecting survival rates if you start on a regimen of modified citrus protein as soon as you learn that you have cancer.

Their tests indicated that modified citrus pectin prevents many types of cancer from creating new blood vessels with which to feed itself. Because it’s reliant on a specific molecule (galectin-3) to function, and that molecule isn’t found in healthy human cells, it has no adverse side effects whatsoever. It also doesn’t function on cancers that don’t use galectin-3, but most cancers, notably prostate, breast, and colon cancer, do.

Cannabinoids

In 2005, Cancer Research (a trade journal for oncologists) published a study by doctors Sami Sarfaraz, Farrukh Afaq, Vaqar M. Adhami and Hasan Mukhtar, in which they tested human prostate cancer cells and found that certain non-addictive cannabinoids (not marijuana-based, but clinically created synthetic cannabinoids) not only prevented prostate cancer cells from reproducing, but actually induced apoptosis (killed the cancer cells). The study was concluded with a simple sentence that sums it up the best: “We conclude that cannabinoids should be considered as agents for the management of prostate cancer.”

Herbs

Study recommending herbs as a prostate cancer alternative treatment was presented at the December 13, 2003 meeting of the Society of Urologic Oncology at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Doctors D.L. Bemis, K.A. Kozakowski, A.G. Anastasiadis, B.C. Stisser, L. Salomon, and Aaron E. Katz observed the effects of a “unique blend” of herbs which they named ‘Zyflamend’ on prostate cancer. The blend contained rosemary, tumeric, ginger, holy basil, green tea, hu zhang, Chinese goldthread, barberry, oregano, and scutallaria baicalensis. According to the study, Zyflamend killed prostate cancer cells so well that after only 72 hours of treatment, cultures that had been treated with Zyflamend had seventy-eight percent less cancer cells than untreated cultures. Further study by Aaron E. Katz has proven that Zyflamend also prevents prostate cancer in men who show strong risk signs such as prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia.

These latest therapies are still being researched but some are already available for sale. Ask your doctor if he would recommend any of them but keep in mind that like most prostate cancer alternative treatments, he may never have heard of them.

If you or someone you love has been through the traditional cancer-fighting regimen, you’re probably on the lookout for skin cancer alternative treatment. Information about the subjects can be hard to find if you’re not already reading the trade journals published by the scientists who are working on cancer cures. Here are a few skin cancer alternative treatment options you’ve probably missed.

Wasabi – Skin Cancer Alternative Treatment

In 2005, a pile of Japanese doctors studied something called 6-methylsulfinylhexyl isothiocyanate – a main chemical component of wasabi. The amount of wasabi needed to cause a 50% reduction in melanoma growth (i.e. doubling the time it takes for a tumor to grow and metastasize) was so small that it was almost trivial. A larger dose not only slowed cell growth, but actually killed some kinds of cancer cells outright – specifically, melanoma and breast cancer.

Ascorbic Acid – Skin Cancer Alternative Treatment

Orthomolecular Medicine News Service, November 9, 2007: “Physicians and patients report that Vitamin C, applied directly to basal cell skin cancers, causes them to scab over and drop off.” You read that correctly. The most common type of skin cancer, basal cell carcinoma, can literally be treated with liquid vitamin C. A solution of ascorbic acid in water does no harm to your body, but kills basal cell carcinoma quite effectively. Simply purchase crystallized ascorbic acid, add water slowly until the crystals all dissolve, and apply it to the tumor. This is probably the simplest skin cancer alternative treatment ever discovered.

Fruits and Veggies – Skin Cancer Alternative Treatment

Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research, 2003 published a study in which Calcium Glucarate (CaG), a compound found in most fruits and vegetables and some seeds, proved to be a very effective inhibitor of cell growth and in many cases triggered apoptosis (cell death) in cancer cells. According to the report’s conclusion: “…the topical application of CaG… can be used for the prevention of skin tumors alone or can be tried in combination with… other known antitumor compounds.”

Corn Lily – Skin Cancer Alternative Treatment

Though the corn lily itself is quite toxic, a compound derived from it, cyclopamine – already proven effective against brain and pancreatic cancer – has recently been proven to be a strong skin cancer alternative treatment as well. By blocking a signaling protein that tells cancer cells when to grow, it prevents tumors from spreading. The experiment gave mice with basal cell carcinoma the corn lily extract in their drinking water – virtually the worst way to get a compound into the skin (because of all of the systems it must pass through to get from the digestive system out to the skin), and it still reduced microscopic basal cell carcinomas by 90%.

The advances that scientists are making quietly, without any medical doctors hearing about them, are incredible. From simple solutions of crystallized vitamins to extracts of plants that nearly killed Lewis and Clark on their famous expedition, each of these skin cancer alternative treatments is almost stupidly simple and safe compared to the horrors of chemotherapy and radiation.

Many of the popular, conventionally grown fruits and vegetables are purchased by the public believing that they are making healthy choices. What people don’t realize is the fact that foods that are not grown organically are treated with potent pesticides and other poisons to speed up their growth, make them grow larger or prevent them from common pests. Below is the list of 15 widely available foods that are found to be heavily contaminated by pesticide and other chemical substances – as per tests conducted by EPA. Because of high contamination level, unless you can get organic versions of these foods, you should avoid them at all costs. Foods listed below don’t have a protective barrier and become thoroughly contaminated which means you’ll be absorbing these harmful substances even if you wash or peel them prior to consuming. To make matters worse, these foods are often treated with really heavy chemicals many of which could lead to serious health issues, including development of cancerous tumors:

1. Peaches

Peaches are treated with multiple pesticides which get soaked right in due to fruit’s delicate skin. Pesticide levels found in non organic peaches are always frighteningly high. Buying non organic peaches means eating all of those chemicals. If you can’t find organic peaches in your area, opt for safer alternatives that are much more resistant to pesticide penetration, such as bananas, watermelons or tangerines.

Peaches, Photo: I Nancy, Flickr

2. Apples

Apples are regularly and frequently treated with chemical poisons to kill insects, fungi and other pests. These chemicals penetrate apples through the skin all the way to the core so washing or peeling won’t help. Apples are full of powerful antioxidants and vitamins most of which are found in the skin or directly under it. Peeling your fruit will strip away most of the beneficial properties apples deliver. Organic apples are widely available and are often sold for price comparable to their pesticide stuffed, non organic versions.

Apple, Photo: Fir0002, Wikipedia

3. Sweet Bell Peppers

Conventionally grown sweet bell peppers are frequently sprayed with heavy insecticides. Thin skin that covers these vegetables allows the pesticide the penetrate deeply into the tissue.

Sweet Bell Peppers, Photo: Kham Tran, Wikipedia

4. Celery

Conventional celery crops are always treated with pesticides but because no protective barrier exists on the surface of this vegetable, washing – regardless of how thorough cannot fully remove the harmful residue. Organic celery is widely available and often reasonably priced.

5. Nectarines

As many as 26 different pesticides are found on conventional nectarines after they have gone through laboratory examination. Many of these are harmful, often cancer promoting substances. Avoid non organic nectarines at all costs.

Nectarines, Photo: Thomas Hawk, Flickr

6. Strawberries

Use of pesticides on strawberries is somewhat regulated in western countries, but these either don’t exist or are not enforced in other countries that export this delicious fruit. Pesticide levels can be dangerously high and cannot be removed by washing. Look for organic strawberries instead.

Strawberry, Photo: David.Monniaux, Wikipedia

7. Cherries

Thin skin covering cherries allows for deep penetration by heavy pesticides. US grown cherries often show higher levels of pesticides than imported ones. Buy organic or avoid.

Cherries, Photo: atomicshark, Flickr

8. Pears

Pests feeding off of pears have become resilient to many pesticides so fruit is sprayed with more and more chemicals year after year. Organic is the only way to go.

Pear, Photo: suttonhoo, Flickr

9. Grapes

Vineyards are sprayed with a variety of pesticides throughout the growth process. Grapes get contaminated right down to the core making the elimination of poisons impossible. Imported grapes are far worse than domestic ones.

Grapes, Photo: miuenski, Flickr

10. Potatoes

Potatoes are sprayed with insecticides and grow in a soil regularly treated with fungicides. Exposure to many chemicals throughout the growth process suggests it’s safer to go with organic potatoes.

Potatoes, Photo: Scott Bauer, Wikipedia

11. Leafy Greens

Leafy greens (spinach, lettuce) are sprayed with most potent pesticides used on food. Contamination is heavy and substances extremely harmful. Choose safer alternatives, such as cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli or buy organic.

Romaine Lettuce, Photo: Rainer Zenz, Wikipedia

12. Carrots

Europe is in the process of banning the pesticides commonly used for treatment of carrots, onions and parsnips because of verifiably harmful effects. North America has not caught up to it yet so opt for safe, organic carrots instead.

Baby Carrots, Photo: ccharmon, Flickr

13. Tomatoes

Tomatoes vary in pesticides levels. Sometimes they are high, sometimes low. Perhaps it has something to do with better pesticides developed in recent years, however I would still steer away from conventional ones and go for organic tomatoes since they are widely available and have become more affordable.

Tomato, Photo: Darwin Bell, Flickr

Any organic food will be safer for you and your family than its non organic, conventional version. On top of fruits and vegetables, try to stick with organic meat. Animals that are not grown according to organic standards are fed with crops full of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, they are injected with growth hormones to make them grow large fast and with antibiotics to prevent them from getting sick. The conditions in which these animals are raised are inhuman, often overcrowded and dirty. Organic meat often comes from free run animals that are not injected with chemicals and are fed with organically grown grains. To help your body stay healthy and cancer free, steer away from pesticide treated foods and buy organic. The cost of cancer treatment is far greater than extra bucks you may end up paying for organic versions of foods you eat every day. Is it really worth the risk?

When you hear the horror stories about radiation and chemotherapy and what they do to the human body, the search for the latest cancer treatment methods becomes paramount. The traditional treatments for cancer are often worse than the disease itself, but the traditional treatments are hardly the only option open to you – and even the ‘traditional’ treatments are being used in new ways that are less damaging and more effective than ever.

One example of this ‘improved’ traditional therapy is the new British technology called the CyberKnife, or IRIS system. The CyberKnife is a robotic machine that can apply small doses of radiation over very specific areas, allowing even oddly-shaped tumors to be burned away with a minimum of damage to the surrounding tissue. The result is radiation therapy that doesn’t produce the amount of necrosis and immune system overload that standard rad therapy does.

Even with a CyberKnife, however, some harsh side effects can still make life miserable. But alternative treatments that haven’t been proven to help directly fight cancer have been proven to deal with these secondary problems quite effectively. For example, many radiation patients suffer xerostomia – severe dry mouth – but a University of Texas study revealed that acupuncture helps with xerostomia as well as several other common nasty side effects of radiation and chemotherapy.

For skin cancer, several methods have recently come into common use that are out of the ordinary. Micrographic surgery involved stripping away very thin layers of tumor and surrounding tissue, then investigating to see what changes have occurred in the shape of the tumor, and adjusting the area of removal for the next layer accordingly. As such, the result is a much smaller wound than from a normal excision. This technique has a 97% cure rate for skin cancer – much better than the other latest cancer treatment methods.

A fascinating new technology has recently come under the spotlight in which ferrous nanoparticles ‘programmed’ to cling to cancer cells are injected into the body. A powerful magnet is applied which causes the nanoparticles along with the attached cancer cells to veer toward the magnet, allowing the cancer particles to be ‘collected’ in the abdomen for easy excretion. While this technique doesn’t have a profound effect on the main tumor, it is excellent for keeping the tumor from metastasizing and slows tumor growth. The major experiments in this technology have been done on ovarian cancer, but there is speculation about its applicability to a wide range of tumors.

Finally, fresh from Australia comes the latest cancer treatment methods that use the idea of engineering bacteria to fight cancer. In ‘mini-cell sabotage’, a mutant bacteria that creates tiny ‘bubbles’ of cell membrane every time it divides. Those tiny ‘bubbles’ – mini-cells – are then filled with toxin and coated with a specific antibody that is particularly attracted to cancer cells. The mini-cells attach themselves (via the antibodies) to the cancer cells, and the cancer cells reflexively eat them, taking in the toxin and dying. The antibody coating also helps the mini-cells avoid being attacked by the immune system. The only part of the experiment that isn’t full of promise is the fact that this technique has only been used on human cancers implanted in mice. Human trials will be underway soon.

Obviously, not all of these are treatments that you can ask for at your local hospital – yet. But research and development on the latest cancer treatment methods is ever-improving, and hope for a cure seems just over the horizon.

Given the wracking pain and necrotic dangers of radiation therapy, and the dramatically painful side effects of chemotherapy, it’s no surprise that colon cancer alternative treatment options are highly sought-after. New research from around the globe is bringing several promising options to light for victims of the second most lethal form of cancer in the US.

Phytochemicals as Colon Cancer Alternative Treatment

Scientists at the University of Dundee in Scotland published a study several years ago describing the effects of a small group of phytochemicals (plant-derived compounds) on colon cancer. Diindolylmethane, ascorbigen, indole-3-carbinol, and indolocarbazole, as well as sulforaphane, benzyl isothiocyanate and phenethyl isothiocyanate were tested in concert. All are natural, plant-derived compounds. The study concluded that the phytochemical complex both killed colon cancer at the cellular level and enhanced the body’s natural ability to resist genotoxins which are responsible for a significant portion of colon cancers.

Grape Seed as Colon Cancer Alternative Treatment

In the trade journal Nutrition and Cancer, scientists Keith W. Singletary and Brandon Meline published a study of how a grape seed polyphenolic extract called ‘proanthrocyanidin’, acted as a powerful colon cancer alternative treatment. In mice with colon cancer, adding grape seed extract equal to less than one percent of their total dietary consumption had significant negative effects on the growth and survival rates of the tumors – a good thing for those mice!

Vitamin D as Colon Cancer Alternative Treatment

From 1991 to 2002, Dr. Kimmie Ng of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston studied more than three hundred patients of colon cancer, noting their dietary intake of Vitamin D and comparing it to their survival rates. Vitamin D had already been proven in several studies to prevent colon cancer, but Dr. Ng’s study showed that Vitamin D also helped fight colon cancer. The evidence was clear: the patients in the top-25% of Vitamin D consumption survived, on average, 50% longer than the patients at the bottom, and had a higher quality of life as well. So eat your salmon, and spend 20 minutes a day in the sunshine.

Milk as Colon Cancer Alternative Treatment

Milk and related diary foods contain the only natural (and healthy) trans fat – conjugated linoleic acid, or CLA. A group of scientists working at the Kyung Hee University in South Korea performed an extensive study of the effects of CLA on colon cancer, finding that a diet that was composed of .5% CLA killed off 250% as many colon cancer cells as a diet composed of 0% CLA – enough to prevent new tumors from being created. Higher doses of CLA had no additional effect. They went on to a further experiment which proved that CLA not only prevents tumors from being created, but actually reduces the size of existing colon cancer tumors.

Clearly, if your doctor suggests that the only – or even just the best – ways to fight colon cancer are chemotherapy and radiation, he is not paying attention. Call some of these colon cancer alternative treatment options to his attention, and get better without all of the pain and side-effects of “modern” medicine.

Lung Cancer is a very challenging disease to treat. Less than 20% of patients diagnosed with Lung Cancer live longer than 5 years after the diagnosis. Deep body radiation and chemotherapy often result in little or no improvement so tumor eventually takes over and claims patient’s life. Despite countless challenges, Lung Cancer Alternative Treatment methods are becoming effective therapies capable of delivering results where “evidence-based medicine” sees little success. Let’s take a look at some of alternative treatment methods that have been effective with lung cancer patients:

Cloves as Lung Cancer Alternative Treatment

If you are at risk of mesothelioma due to asbestos exposure, strong evidence indicates that cloves not only remove asbestos from the air, but can also reduce the cancer-causing potential of asbestos fibers already inside the body. By clinging to and altering the structure of free-radical-causing chemicals that reside on asbestos fibers – the carcinogenic element of the stuff – cloves can reduce the dangers of asbestos in the lungs.

Milk Thistle as Lung Cancer Alternative Treatment

A milk thistle extract called silibnin has been proven to reduce the density of blood vessels in lung tumors. Mice with lung tumors who were fed moderate amounts of milk thistle had their tumor vessel density reduced by up to 89%, and the number of tumor cells that showed signs of active reproduction dropped by as much as 74%. The researcher’s conclusion was strong: “Silibinin…merits investigation as a chemopreventive agent for suppressing lung cancer progression.”

Sunshine as Lung Cancer Alternative Treatment

Ok, not just sunshine – but a study in Boston a few years back proved that recurrence-free survival of lung cancer treatment was doubled in patients who had their surgeries in the summertime (more sunlight = more Vitamin D created by the body) and had high intake of dietary Vitamin D as well. That alone should be reason for anyone with any form of lung cancer to take large quantities of Vitamin D every day.

Omega Fatty Acids as Lung Cancer Alternative Treatment

Specifically, Omega-3s and mixed tocopherols (vitamin E). The balance between Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids has been shown to directly affect cancer growth, with a higher level of Omega-3s having a beneficial effect (reducing cancer growth.) Meanwhile, mixed tocopherols (particularly gamma-tocopherol) have been proven to induce apoptosis (cell death) in lung cancer cultures in vitro.

Astragalus as Lung Cancer Alternative Treatment

While astragalus, a Chinese herb, hasn’t been shown to cure cancer on it’s own, it is of great assistance to people taking platinum-based chemotherapy, not only increasing the effects of the chemotherapy, but reducing the negative side-effects at the same time.

Western medicine has a very poor record in extending lives of Lung Cancer patients or ridding them of the tumor entirely. It is not surprising that patients who have been diagnosed with lung cancer see their biggest hopes in Alternative Medicinal Therapies. While cigarette smoke is the main culprit responsible for Lung Cancer, the tumor can also be developed by people who’ve never smoked in their whole lives. Virtually any cancer causing agent, when inhaled can cause Lung Cancer and once tumor is developed, getting rid of it is a tough battle. Lung Cancer Alternative Treatment Methods can assist you with the healing process and/or with treatment of symptoms associated with chemotherapy or radiation. Because some alternative treatment methods can result in allergic reactions or could otherwise interfere with conventional treatment, you should always check with your physician before undergoing supplemental treatment.

Cervical Cancer, unlike almost any other cancer, is slow-growing and appears in several distinct stages which make it the easiest cancer to detect early – nonetheless, cervical cancer alternative treatment options are on the rise. Regular pap smears are the primary tool for early detection. Women who are unlucky enough to miss the early warning signs will want to research cervical cancer alternative treatments in depth before submitting themselves to the standard array of chemo and radiation ‘therapies’.

Unfortunately, because cervical cancer is so easy to stop before it starts, scientists largely regard it as a lower priority than cancers that are challenging to detect and therefore much more lethal. That has lead to a dearth of cervical cancer alterative treatment. But what has been done has been somewhat impressive.

Protein Assailants as Cervical Cancer Alternative Treatment

According to Channel News Asia, scientists in Singapore have developed a synthetic protein that stops cervical cancer cells from dividing altogether, thus halting the progress of a cervical tumor. Because the protein targets only cancerous cells, there is no collateral tissue damage like that caused by radiation or chemotherapy.

Diindolylmethane as Cervical Cancer Alternative Treatment

A compound found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and cabbage, Diindolylmethane has been shown to be effective at preventing cancer. Scientists in the UK recently completed a small study of 14 women which proved that taking capsules with diindolylmethane equivalent to eating two full grown cabbages had a “significant effect” on the ability of an existing cervical tumor to grow and metastasize – not curing the cancer, but buying much more time for traditional methods to work at low doses, which in turn significantly reduces the negative side effects of the treatments.

Zedoania as Cervical Cancer Alternative Treatment

Called E Zhu in Chinese, scientists in that country injected a solution of Zedoania directly into the tumors of eighty cervical cancer patients. Doctors have not identified the mechanism by which the herb works, but the results were undeniable. Thirty of the patients were completely cured by the injection, and an additional 15 had their tumors shrink by 50% or more.

Britain’s Anti-Cancer Gel

Scientists in Britain developed a powerful but harmless-to-humans gel that break down the protein ‘coating’ that protects cervical cancer cells as well as those of its precursor, human papilloma virus. The gel is simply spread directly onto the cervix, and destroys the tumor’s armor – allowing the immune system to recognize the tumor for what it is, and destroy and remove it just like any other infection.

Obviously, none of these methods have been addressed by the FDA or other major American medical organizations. But those organizations have proven to be extraordinarily resistant to any form of cervical cancer alternative treatment – so much so that many people believe that they are being consciously suppressed. Regardless of what you believe, the range and efficacy of the cervical cancer alternative treatment options is bewildering, if you know where to look.
